4-Pin Aviation Breakout Cable
Features a 4-Pin Aviation male connector which breaks out to an RCA male for video, an RCA male for audio, and a female power connector. This breakout cable can be used to breakout the video, audio and power connections when using a 4-pin Aviation cable. Note, the pinout of the 4-pin connectors is specific to monitors, cameras and DVRs. However, you can also use with other breakout cables on each end of a cable that has has 4-pin Aviation connectors.Typically, the monitor or DVR is powered by a separate cable that is connected to the ignition of a vehicle. Then, the monitor or DVR may use a 4-pin Aviation connector to send the power to the camera and, once powered, the camera returns the video and audio to the monitor and DVR. This breakout cable is sometimes used to replace the original monitor or DVR and send the power to the camera.
The 4-Pin Aviation connector is common in aviation and vehicle applications since it provides a way to create a water-proof connection and a locking connection, as the connectors have threaded ends to tighten and complete the connection.
Please do not confuse the 4-Pin Aviation connector with a 4-pin mini DIN connector that is commonly used for s-video signals that have separate brightness and color signals.
